ANNUAL HOMEOWNER WEEKEND
|
|
|
|
|
|

Teri had fun
Friday night at the potluck by the River!
|
Usually our Annual Homeowner Meeting
and Events fall during the month of August, but this year everything
was postponed until October. We had our fingers crossed for some of
that great Indian Summer weather we love here in Montana, and we were
blessed with a wonderful, crisp, sunny fall weekend.
The festivities were kicked off with a gathering at the GRR Picnic Site
down by the river. We had a great bonfire in the fire pit, and utilized
it for grilling hot dogs, and later enjoyed roasting marshmallows for
S'mores. The event was "potluck", so everyone brought a dish,
making for some wonderful down-home eating! We had a talented fellow
playing his guitar and singing around the campfire as well. The weather
was perfect, and everyone seemed to have a great time.
Saturday evening we had our BBQ & Barn dance, which was also well
attended. The disc jockey really read the crowd, and played the songs
that got everyone (kids included) up on the dance floor. Most of all,
it was just great getting together with other homeowners, meeting new
friends, greeting old friends... and celebrating this wonderful place
where we live!
Saturday morning we had our Annual Meeting, and waded through lots of
information and decisions that needed to be decided and voted upon.
Ballots had been sent prior to the meeting, electing three new
Directors for the Board, and also voting whether or not to dismiss the
standing lawsuit involving the Developers and the HOA. Early in '07,
six members of the (then) Board of Directors sued the Developers in the
name of the Homeowners Association. This was done without the knowledge
or consent of the owners. This Board has since been replaced with a new
Board, and the homeowners voted overwhelmingly to dismiss the lawsuit.
The hope now is that neighbors will forget bygones, and life, as we
knew it at GRR, will get back to normal. All of us here feel this is
the case. So, if you have been waiting before buying your dream
parcel... now is the time! Upon assessing our current Gallatin Valley
real estate market, it is clear that all of our 20± acre parcels are
substantially under-priced. Call one of our Ranch Associates today to
schedule your tour of Gallatin River Ranch, and select your parcel now!

AUTUMN IN MONTANA
|
|
|
|
|
Often the autumn season in Montana
lasts only a few days or a week. But this year... we had amazingly
beautiful color in the trees, far-reaching landscapes and mountainsides
for a long, long time. The conversations in the Gallatin Valley all
began with "Wow, what a beautiful fall we are having - the
prettiest I've ever seen!"
Knowing winter is coming also makes us enjoy our wonderful autumn days
even more. Those of us who live in Montana year-round, would not be
here, however, if we didn't like some aspects of winter. Whether it is
looking forward to enough snow to fall so the ski slopes open early, or
yearning for that first cold snap so we can wear that new fall outfit
with our snazzy new boots, or just loving the brisk, cold air on our
cheeks or cuddling by a cozy fire, enjoying a cup of steaming hot
chocolate.
If any of you are ever considering a trip to Montana in the fall...
plan it now for next year! The fall months bring us some of our most
enjoyable weather - great fishing, wonderful weather for horseback
riding, and also for those hunters, there is no other season so anticipated!
We are expecting another great autumn for 2008, so come join us!

NEW BUILDING IN MANHATTAN
|
|
|
|
|
Well, it's not exactly a new building,
but rather one of the original Manhattan buildings at the corner of
Main and Broadway, with a new look -- The
Manhattan Mercantile. It housed the local hardware store for many, many
years. When the store closed, the old grande dame sat vacant for quite
a while. Then Tom Langel bought it and began the renovation. Langel is
one of the developers of GRR, and also owns Amerimont Realty, and
Little Apple Technology, both long-time local businesses. He wanted to
relocate and expand his facilities for Amerimont Realty, and did so
with style and flare. The Real Estate office recently had its grand
opening, showing off the great renovating job the Langel's completed
for this significant space. One of the primary goals was to retain the
building's historical roots, and retain the "look" the building
always presented to the community. Thanks Amerimont --- you did a great
job!

FROM THE ROUNDPEN
|
|
|
|
|
Our spectacular autumn and crisp sunny days have been
wonderful for riding here on the Ranch. So come on out... now is a
great time to get in some really comfortable riding prior to Old Man
Winter blowing in and cooling us off.
Show season is coming to an end, so all the horses are looking forward
to a little "down time" with winter coming on. The staff and
trainers at the Equestrian Center are staying busy this time of year
with the young horses, getting them up and going so they will be ready
to head out in the spring.
Most of you are aware of the dangerous fire season we went through in
late summer here in NW Montana. Unfortunately, we had a situation here
at GRR with a fire. A grassland fire started just over the hill from
the Equestrian Center, and was blowing directly into one of our
paddocks just above the main barn. Everyone acted very quickly and we
were able to organize an evacuation of the horses so they were all
safe. The staff, along with some neighbors, had all of the trailers
hooked up within minutes it seemed, and there was great support from
the horse community, with plenty of people bringing even more trucks
and trailers to assist with moving the horses. About 40 horses were
moved off the premises and others were moved to a central location where
they were safe. Tragedy was averted, and the staff and neighbors all
had a great "fire drill" and lesson in evacuation! The GRR
Volunteer Fire Department, along with other neighboring fire
departments, did a great job of fighting and extinguishing the fire
without any injury to people or animals, nor damage to any structures.
